Title: Across The Universe (Across The Universe #1)
Author: Beth Revis
Format: Paperback
Rating: 3/5 cups of coffee
My Review:
MINOR SPOILER ALERT!!!
Beware, this is not a love story. As you can see in the book cover. Now, I’d justified the saying “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover.” This book is science fiction with a twist of suspense. This book is mysterious. And not to mention, this book is full of frexing LIES! By the way, frex/frexing was a word used in the book as f*ck/f*cking. So the author used frex/frexing instead of those foul words. You will know why when you read it yourself.
The story was slow at first but then it became mysterious at the middle part. I hate science, so I don’t get used to some science term in this book. I can’t fully understand some things. At first, I want to mark this book as unfinished-books because of those science terminologies but then I decided why shouldn’t I give it a try? Then it goes well. I get hooked at the near end part.
This book is full of lies. I shouldn’t be surprised because at the cover of the book it says What does it take to survive aboard a spaceship fueled by lies. There you go, lies.
And oh, the love story thing. Well it’s not really a love story like with too much kissing and cuddling and stuffs. Nothing like that tho. Yes, it’s disappointing. I love love stories but maybe it’s a good thing because sometimes too much kissing annoys me.
Well, this books annoys me in some part because of their Season thingy where some of the people of the spaceship Godspeed mates in public. Eww!
This is the first sci-fi novel that I’ve read, maybe that’s why I don’t get used to it at first. So now I know how sci-fi novels works for me. I learned a lot from this book. I will definitely read the second book. :)

The Summer I Turned Pretty (Summer, #1) by Jenny Han
My Rating: 5/5 cups of coffee
My Review:
I can’t believe I’d finished this book in just 4 hours? I was just curious what will happened to Belly at the end of the book because usually the most exciting part was at the end but then this book don’t really give me what I’ve been looking for in a chick-lit books like this but it gave me more than I could ask for. Because whenever I read chick-lit books usually it always has the sweetest love story ever. But this book won’t give you that, it will make you want for more. Belly didn’t actually what she wanted but at the end which is the cliff-hanger part, I think she did but I don’t know. And that’s what the book does to me. It makes me beg for more.
I don’t usually finished a book overnight but this book make me read it in just 4 hours. Well that means I will definitely read the second book of this chick-lit trilogy. Ha-ha!

I gave this book 3 stars because. First, I’m annoyed with some of the characters. And second, it’s not really a dystopian book but romance which is annoying especially the mouth-eating kissing part. But I’m not against love story but I expect more from this book like action, government, and twist. I know this book has a lot of good reviews but my review is not bad at all. Actually, I hate and love this book. I hate it because whenever Juliette speaks she always broke her sentence, she’s always interrupted by the other characters which is somewhat annoying. Juliette cannot finish her words because the other character talks too much. I also hate this book because it’s so predictable, I don’t know maybe I read something like this before but I cannot recall what. And I love it because of the love but not the kissing parts, I know Juliette is longing for a touch but I think its too much and its like she wanted to kiss eat Adam. And I also love the Juliette for being observant and being honest to herself, she knows where to put herself because everybody knows she’s different. She’s a goodhearted person. She did not boast about her magical power gift.
Overall, You will love and hate this book but somewhat it’s magical. Well their love is magical. I need mo twist and action in the second book please? To those who love this book so much, please don’t hate me. :)

Demonglass (Hex Hall, #2) by Rachel Hawkins
My Rating: 4/5 cups of coffee
My Review:
Okay…
I can’t breathe, again.
Hmm, how do I start it? Hmm.
Okay. Where did the excitement from the first book go? The first book was a page turner then the second book was… What?! It’s good but it’s not amazing just like the first book which is Hex Hall, the characters are the same and everything but I don’t know maybe it’s kinda slow, for me I guess. And the ending, ohmy! What kind of ending is that? HAHAHA! Well, I gave it 4 stars anyway because I love Sophie and Archer. I mean their love story, it’s cute actually. They love each other differently. I will definitely read the third book. I’m inlove with this series. I wish the third book was beautiful as the first one.

Illusions (Wings #3) by Aprilynne Pike
My Rating: 4/5 cups of coffee
My Review:
“But love is something that has to be as selfish as it is unselfish. You can’t make yourself love someone because you feel like you should. Just wanting to love someone isn’t enough.”
This was the third book of the Wings series. I think this book is not so good like the first 2 books. I mean this book was great but it’s lacking of excitement and adventures. Maybe I just expect more from this book but I got disappointed, not really but maybe a little. The good thing about this book is the Love Triangle of Laurel, Tamani and David and that was exciting. I really can’t guess who will be Laurel’s choice, is it Tamani or David? But she loves them both but differently. I like David despite of his bad boy image when it comes to Tamani and I like Tamani more because he’s very protective to Laurel and he really loves Laurel whatever happens.
I get annoyed to Chelsea in this book because she’s still in love with David. Is that what you called a friend? Anyway good thing Laurel understands and she didn’t think of Chelsea differently because of what she’s going to do after the winter dance, which is breaking up with Ryan because David is sad. Ugh! And Oh oh! Tamani got an iPhone. Lololololol! That’s what I like about this book, faeries using iPhone. Oh, I forgot Yuki, the shy type unordinary girl and not to mention that she is a Winter Faerie. Oh my golly gushy gushy gosh!
Well anyway at the end it was full of surprises and a damn cliff-hanger, so damn cliff-hanger. Overall, I like it but not like the first 2 books, just for the sake of the series. But I’m still in love with the characters and the story, this book just has it flaws but its fine, I’m still reading the last book, Destined. I’m just waiting for the paperback edition. I’m not into hardcovers. Lol~

Hex Hall (Hex Hall, #1) by Rachel Hawkins
My Rating: 5/5 cups of coffee
My Review:
AWESOME BOOK!
I LOVE IT!
NEW FAVORITE!
MORE PLEASE!
I guess I found my new favorite trilogy after The Hunger Games and The Wolves of Mercy Falls. Hex Hall reminds me of Hogwarts. I didn’t think that this book was so good. Definitely a page turner. I started reading it last night then it finished it within 8 hours. OMG! The book was well written and full of surprises and everything! I wish I’d read this earlier but anyway I will grab the second book as soon as possible. I can’t get over. I’m still in-shock, I guess.

Where She Went (If I Stay #2) by Gayle Forman
My Rating: 4/5 cups of coffee
My Review:
“If you stay, I’ll do whatever you want. I’ll quit the band, go with you to New York. But if you need me to go away, I’ll do that, too. I was talking to Liz and she said maybe coming back to your old life would just be too painful, that maybe it’d be easier for you to erase us. And that would suck, but I’d do it. I can lose you like that if I don’t lose you today. I’ll let you go. If you stay” - Adam
OMG! This book is amazing. It’s from Adam’s POV, so it really interest me. I love reading boys/guys POV, I mean I think it’s different from a girls point of view. So this book is the sequel of If I Stay but I think the only problem with this book is the lack of excitement and twist even though the plot is beautiful. I thought there’s something more but still it captures my attention. I think, I just need more from Adam and Mia. I wish there was a third book.

Forever (The Wolves of Mercy Falls #3) by Maggie Stiefvater
Rating: 5/5 cups of coffee
Review:
I can’t breathe right now…
wait…
pause.
Okay, here’s the deal. Don’t read if you haven’t read or finished reading this. Kaay? Because I can’t promise you that I won’t be a spoiler here. The book is awesome. A-W-E-S-O-M-E! I thought it will end like Sam and Grace will be dead or whatever. Death is sad. But Beck died and it’s so sad. I like him as the father of Sam. I have questions in my mind that don’t have an answer in this book, maybe I just missed it because I’m so excited to turned the page. I promised you that this book is exciting and unpredictable, unlike the other books. I love how the books gives us every characters thoughts like Sam, Grace, Isabel, Cole and even Shelby has a prologue at the beginning. When it comes to the characters, I like Cole. He’s a genius! He even called Shelby“the pissy one” because I hate Shelby, I don’t know why. I just hate her. I also love how this book has two different love story. First Sam and Grace, the most romantic wolf-couple and second, Cole and Isabel, the two characters that they-didn’t-even-know-if-they-really-like-each-other.
Overall, this book gives me goosebumps. The action, the drama, the love story, and everything. Bad thing is every story has an ending but the good thing is, the story ends with a happy ending. I’m just sad that this book has to end. Thank you to Maggie Stiefvater for sharing her wonderful imagination and for her wonderful writing skills.

If I Stay by Gayle Forman
My Rating: 5/5 cups of coffee
My Review:
“Love, it never dies. It never goes away, it never fades, so long as you hang on to it. Love can make you immortal”
I always dreamed of having a rock-star boyfriend. The one who can sing, play instruments like guitar or drums and the one who will bring you to rock concerts. Because I, myself can sing and play guitar. Well I can dream big but I’m happy with my boyfriend right now even though he can’t play guitar and he can’t even sing.Sorry boyfie!
This book is well written even though all of the time the story shifts from one story to another. It’s more on backtracking. But I get used to it. The book is about love, death, music and family. I love how the author brought music into book. Just likeThe Perks of Being a Wallflower. Sometimes I search for the songs in the internet to listen to it so that I can imagine the story more.
Overall, it’s beautiful and sad at the same time. It’s a cliff-hanger so I need to buy the next book Where She Went when school starts.

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs
My Rating: 5/5 cups of coffee
My Review:
This is a spoiler-free review.
I love the way this book was written. Especially the photographs but some photos really creeps me out and gave me goose bumps. I often read this at night because I was scared but sometimes I read it but without looking at the pictures. But then after all it was not really scary, it was just like a children’s fantasy book but I like it even though I’m already 22 years old. What scary is the way the peculiar children has been photographed because they arepeculiar means they are different from normal people.
The story is like using a time machine which is nice. It’s different from the books that I’ve read. So it’s nice to shift from a different story to another different story. I love the photographs, it widens my imagination when it comes to the story because when the main character describe the peculiar children it was difficult to imagine. Well, two thumbs up for the photographs.(They are authentic.)
All in all, I love this book and I thought this book doesn’t have a sequel but it does! I will definitely wait for it! This book is absolutely one of my favorites!

Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver
My Rating: 4/5 cups of coffee
My Review:
Spoiler ALERT! Spoiler ALERT! Spoiler ALERT!
”There is no before. There is only now, and what comes next.” – Raven
OMG! This book has a great ending!
Now this book has now and then. Now, Lena is a new girl and lives with Raven and Tack in Zombieland and then, when she was in the Wilds. At first the book seems so slow, Lena kept talking about her experience in the Wilds. Alex is gone and she’s alone with strangers in the Wilds until she gets used to it and become one of them. Lena is always tired and weak while she was in the wilds, she kept complaining about their food and the need for her to work if she wants to stay.
Now she has a mission in Zombieland until she got kidnapped by theScavengers with Julian, the president of DFA Deliria-Free America. She was prisoned with Julian for days. Sometimes she hates Julian, sometimes she did not. She kept hiding the real Lena for the sake of her mission in Zombieland. She always thought that the Lena before does not exist and now she’s a new Lena. It’s like Lena wants to be like Raven strong and she even forget the past and what’s important now is the present.
Lena should make her own trademark among the uncured in Wilds, she must not forget what she was before because the Lena before is the one who make her come to the Wilds.
Julian and Lena escaped the Scavengers then stayed in one of the homestead, before they go to sleep they kissed because Julian want to know what it feels like to have the disease, the deliria. Lena seems falling in love with Julian because Alex wasn’t there. He’s dead. She thought Julian is filling the spaces that Alex left her. I think it’s just lust. Haha!
At morning they were caught of course, of the DFA. Then Lena found out that her mother was the one who caught her in the homestead after they escaped. Julian was sentenced to death then Lena cannot accept the fact that he is going to die because of her. Julian resigned as the president of DFA and he thought that he is infected by the disease but he is, really. Lena thought it was all her fault because she kissed him and that’s the reason she infected him.
Lena went to rescue Julian at the hospital then she did with the help of Raven and Tack. After saving Julian they will go to the one of the homestead in North with of course Julian, Lena’s new boyfriend but then Alex appeared and that’s the end. So it’s a f*cking cliff-hanger. I can’t wait to read the next sequel, Requiem. Lena is now caught between TWO LOVERS. Oh my god!
Overall, it was a good book but not as good as Delirium but definitely one of my favorites. It was slow but at the end, the real action begins.

Delirium by Lauren Oliver

“Love will turn the whole world into something greater than itself”
I got hooked into this book from the very beginning because the way it talks about love and the dangers about it. I like it. This is a well written book. I won’t be a spoiler in this review. I want you to read it yourself and I promise you, you’ll fell inlove with the book just like me. Although it’s a cliff-hanger at the end but the second book is out so you don’t need to wait what happens next.

This book is somewhat not nice. But good thing, I don’t suffer from eating disorder or being a bulimic like Lia’s dead friend Cassie. I’m fat and I weigh 185 pounds because I love food. Food is life. There is so many people, children and elders suffers from starvation and you? (whoever suffers from problems like this) you don’t like food? I hate that.
I really don’t like this book because how Lia acts with her parents. She had everything a teenager could ask for a car, a rich parents and everything but she chose to throw it all away.
When Lia cuts herself sometimes, I remember my old self. I used to cut myself before but I get over it. It won’t make everything okay, it’ll make it worst. So I hate Lia/the book/the author for that.
However, at the near end of the book. I started to like it because she’s been into hospitals. I really like to laugh at her because I don’t like Lia. But at the end she learn how to like and eat like a normal person. That’s a good thing right?
You will learn how to hate and love a book from this book. I would recommend it to those people who suffers from eating disorders or being bulimic. Because if not, you’ll get annoyed so don’t bother.

Insurgent by Veronica Roth
My Rating: 5/5 cups of coffee
My Review:
“I love Tris the Divergent, who makes decisions apart from faction loyalty, who isn’t some faction archetype. But the Tris who’s trying as hard as she can to destroy herself … I can’t love her.”
This is better than Divergent. She’s been in other factions city. Sometimes she end up in Candor, Amity or to the factionless hide out.
Is just that Tris become so emotional when it comes to Will’s death and that’s because of her. She’s been guilty because she shot Will but she’d done it for self defense. Does she even think about it? If she did not shoot Will, will she be here in this book? Lame! Ha-ha.
It’s annoying sometimes because she kept thinking of those sad moments. She became lazy in this book. She always want to cry. And that’s really really annoying. Also Tris behaviour, she always act like a hero, she always think for the others before herself and Tobias. I thought she’s not an Abnegation but I guess she really did not forget her old faction then. Tobias really loves her and she did not value it. She just remember her love for Tobias when they’re kissing. What is wrong with you Tris?
Well, at the end. The information that they are all fighting for, maybe not all but some is so shocking. Edith Prior ohmygod. Is this some kind of a serum? Lol~
Overall, the book went well. Many adventures, twists and everything. But this book is another cliff-hanger. I can’t wait for the next book but unfortunately the next book will come out next year. 2013, please come faster.

The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman
My Rating: 5/5 cups of coffee
My Review:
“It takes a graveyard to raise a child.”
*****
This book is amazing. The characters and the story itself was amazing.
Can you imagine having a ghost parents, a guardian and friends? And also living in a creepy graveyard? Well for Nobody Owens also known as Bod, it’s normal to have a ghost parents. But Silas his guardian did all the job in raising him well. Silas bring him food and answer every question he asked. Bod has the Freedom of Graveyard, he’s free to wander around and that gives me goosebumps. The story is creepy but interesting.
While reading this book I feel like I’m trapped in a place like a graveyard. Because Bod can’t go outside to the living world. That’s what his guardian Silas said.
He studied inside the graveyard. The graveyard is the place where he learned his first A B C, reading the name of the dead in a stone and writing it in a piece of paper. That’s how he met Scarlett, a girl who wandered around the graveyard and saw him writing his alphabet on a piece of paper.
Miss Lupescu, he teach Bod how to Fade, to Fear and how to Dream walked. It helps him a lot when he went to school but ended fast because he make a scene with two bully student. So Silas told him to stop going to that school and stay in the graveyard where he’s safe from any harm.
I thought this book has no love story but there is. Unfortunately, it does not have a happily ever after like the others. After their encounter with the Jack of all trades who killed Bod’s family, Silas make Scarlett forget what happened in the graveyard. That’s how their love story end.
When Bod reached fifteen, his guardian let him live in the living world. He says that Bod needs to live. So Bod went out of the graveyard saying goodbye to his graveyard friends, family and his guardian Silas. And it makes me sad. It’s just, I love the way that the ghost took care of him and raised him well. It’s kinda creepy I know. But it’s a wonderful journey of his life, not just seeing dead people but playing with them, talking to them and they took care of him.
Overall, I love the book. I hope Neil Gaiman write a sequel to this book on how Bod catch up in the living world. I know this is some kind of a children book but I love it. The fantasy that this book has brought me is priceless.
